Q: “What do you do if your child has difficulty finding interests? If I was to ask my 13 year old what he would like to do in order to set up a visual ideas poster, he would say I don’t like to do anything other than gaming. Everything is boring.”
A: “Video games give you a dopamine rush and with that comes a sense of accomplishment. If you son feels he has a mastery over a certain game, he is going to do what makes him feel good: play that game. So what we need to do is find other things where he can practice building skills. That also means you sometimes have to tell him he is trying new things…”
